UPDATE: November 21, 2018

The following was provided over an email from PRSA Los Angeles:

On behalf of the LA, OC and Inland Empire chapters, we recently sent out an email to learn how we can best assist fellow PRSA members impacted by recent fires in Southern California. Thank you to all who responded with suggestions; here's how you can help.

Longtime PRSA member Susan Tellem, APR, and her husband and chapter volunteer, Marshall Thompson, of Malibu lost their home and sustained extensive damage to a nonprofit turtle and tortoise rescue, American Tortoise Rescue, they founded 28 years ago. You can help the rebuild the sanctuary and the hospital by donating through GoFundMe.  You can also donate through PayPal at info@tortoise.com, as well as NetworkForGood.com.

If you are interested in helping victims of the fires in general, PRSA member Matt Myerhoff, who is the Media Information Officer for the City of Malibu recommends donating through the following organizations:

Unfortunately, we realize that there will probably be other fires to fight in the future. To help with this effort, please consider supporting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, which provides equipment, training and other necessary support to the LAFD where the city's budget leaves off. After the destruction of the Woolsey Fire, the Foundation needs to replace the department's brush fire helmets since many were damaged or destroyed on the front lines. To donate, please visit www.SupportLAFD.org.
